Concept:
Art is a form of personal expression through a media, and an art piece is a piece of a person, expressing their feelings. I want this art gallery to respect this outlook and create emotions for the visitor without overpowering the art pieces.
Inspired by Louis Khan work with concrete, brutalist architecture and the Cubus theory, the aim of my design is to create a non verbal communication between the building and the visitors, engage their emotion and senses, so that they become amazed by their experience. Certain part of the building are designed as a maze, stimulating playfulness, curiosity and reflection.
Located in the Loire Valley, in France, which is a forested area where many historical can be found, I wanted this building to communicate with the castle architecture, and give a contemporary twist through the use of concrete, steel, glass and recycled plastic.
The artworks will be displayed in 2 different buildings.
A first long building with high ceiling will host the large painting or contemporary exhibitions.
A second square building separated in 4 interconnected circular rooms will display smaller sculpture and paintings.
